This 1958 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Fleetside pickup, dubbed “E-Pache”, was acquired by Conductive Classics, a classic car EV-conversion specialist in Garden City, Idaho, in 2021. The subsequent build included the installation of a NetGain HyPer 9HV motor and a five-speed manual transmission as well as a Total Cost Involved front suspension crossmember with coilovers, front disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering. A Tesla Model S-sourced battery pack is housed within a bed-mounted toolbox along with drive controllers and charging equipment, and a digital battery monitor is mounted in the cab. The bed has a replacement wood-plank floor, while the interior has a bench seat trimmed in gray and black as well as a digital stereo unit and an aftermarket steering wheel. This electric Apache pickup was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered in Iowa with a clean Montana title.
The truck wears patinaed blue paint, and spots of primer and corrosion are visible around the cab, bed, and body panels. The grille and bumpers are finished in white, and the rear bumper has been refinished. The bed has a replacement wood floor with gray runners.
The chassis was fitted with a TCI front suspension crossmember, front coilovers, front disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering during the build by Conductive Classics. Reproduction 15″ rally wheels are wrapped in 225/75 Hankook Kinergy tires.
The cab features a bench seat that has been re-trimmed in black and gray vinyl. Beige paint remains on the dash and other metal panels, the floors are covered in a black rubber mat, and a digital stereo unit is installed.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an inoperative 100-mph speedometer and other factory gauges. A digital display module below the center of the dash monitors battery status and displays the vehicle’s speed. The inoperative five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
A steel tool box at the front of the bed houses a battery pack sourced from a Tesla Model S along with an Orion battery management system and voltage converters. Switches and a charging port are mounted to the tool box. The selling dealer states the truck’s range is approximately 80-90 miles on a full charge.
The NetGain HyPer 9HV AC electric motor was installed during the 2021 build and is rated by the manufacturer at 163 lb-ft of torque. The motor weighs 130 pounds and spins to 8k-rpm. A custom-fabricated adapter plate connects the motor to a five-speed manual transmission sourced from a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado.
