This Factory Five Racing Mk4 Roadster is powered by twin NetGain HyPer 9 SPRIM electric motors linked to dual SME AC-X1 controllers and eight LG Chem lithium-ion batteries, which send power to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-5 five-speed manual transmission. The fiberglass body is finished in Pearl Horizon Blue and mounted to a red-finished tubular frame, and the interior features low-back bucket seats, Simpson safety harnesses, a fire extinguisher, Speedhut gauges, and a suite of digital vehicle-monitoring displays. The car rides on an independent rear suspension and 17″ Halibrand-style wheels, and further details include two-wheel regenerative brakes, power steering, and CNC-fabricated motor mounts, battery boxes, and cooling plates. Designed and assembled by the current owners, this “eCobra” is offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with spare parts, manuals, and a clean California title.
A fabricated cockpit was affixed to the red-finished tubular frame, and the motor mounts, battery boxes, cooling plates, and various additional components were custom-designed during the build. Photos documenting the assembly process are shown in the gallery.
The fiberglass body is finished in Pearl Horizon Blue, and exterior details include a single roll hoop, a hood scoop, LED headlights, and a LeMans-style filler cap that covers the charging port.
Halibrand-style 17″ wheels are secured by three-eared knockoffs and are mounted with Nitto NT555-G2 tires measuring 245/45 up front and 315/35 out back. Curb marks on the left-front wheel are noted in the gallery. The car is equipped with regenerative braking along with A-arm front and independent rear suspension setups.
The low-back bucket seats are trimmed in black upholstery, and the occupants are held in place by Simpson safety harnesses. Additional notable interior features consist of drilled Wilwood pedals, leather door limit straps, a fire extinguisher, and a suite of digital vehicle monitoring displays mounted ahead of the shifter.
The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Speedhut instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. Approximately 1k miles have been added to the digital odometer since the build.
A Thunderstruck EV controller charges the eight LG Chem lithium-ion batteries, which are split between the engine bay and the trunk. The car also features an auxiliary 12-volt electrical system to power the headlights, horn, and additional electrical components.
Power comes from dual NetGain HyPer 9 SPRIM electric motors, which are linked to two SME AC-X1 controllers and the aforementioned batteries. An electric pump circulates coolant between the radiator and cooling plates located below each of the battery boxes and controllers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-5 five-speed manual transmission.
The car is titled as a 2020 Specially Constructed Vehicle under the VIN CA8689177, which includes an extra 7 when compared to the number on the California-assigned VIN plate shown above. The Factory Five Racing data plate is also displayed in the gallery.
Spare parts include a throttle cable, lug nuts, badges, electrical components, and various bearings and clips. An assembly manual, accessory manuals, operational specifications, technical drawings, and reference notes will also accompany the car.
