This go-kart was built to resemble the Bugatti Type 52, which was a child’s car offered by the automaker from 1927 to 1936 as a scaled-down electric version of the Type 35 Grand Prix. It is said to have been stored in a museum until it was purchased by the seller in 2018. The aluminum body is finished in blue and features 8″ cast aluminum wheels, a chrome-plated brass faux radiator shell, leather hood straps, a side-mount spare wheel, an ammeter, and a bench seat trimmed in tan leather. The kart retains a mount for an electric motor, although it is not fitted with a powerplant. This Bugatti-style kart is now offered at no reserve in Stafford Township, New Jersey, on a bill of sale.
The aluminum body is finished in blue and features a chrome-plated brass faux radiator shell, a louvered hood and tail, a chrome handbrake lever, a Bugatti emblem, and leather hood straps. The seller notes the kart was hung from a ceiling in a museum, causing damage to the rear bodywork, as shown in the gallery, along with other blemishes. The kart measures 77.25″ long, 27.5″ wide, and 21.75″ high.
The 8″ cast aluminum wheels wear brass knock-off hubs, and they are mounted with 3.25/3.00–8 bias-ply tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are mounted on the left of the body. The kart features chrome semi-elliptical leaf springs up front, and stopping power is provided by cable-operated mechanical drums at all four corners.
The cockpit features a bench seat trimmed in tan leather.
The black-painted four-spoke steering wheel fronts a painted dash housing an on/off switch and a Bugatti-branded ammeter. Various imperfections are visible in the steering wheel.
A cast mount for an electric motor is fitted above the rear axle.
The chassis number BG3040106 is stamped into the aluminum bodywork.
