This 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle sedan was acquired by the seller as a non-running project in 2008. Subsequent work included retrofitting the car with an electric drivetrain, reupholstering the interior in tan vinyl and beige tweed, converting the front brakes to disc, performing rust repairs, and repainting the body in Silver Pine Pearl. It is powered by an HPEVS AC-50 8” three-phase motor with a GBS LiFeMnPO4 10.240 kilowatt-hour battery and a Curtis 1238 with regenerative braking linked to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional details include 15″ Lemmerz sport wheels, a rear seat delete, an electric heater, and a custom wiring harness with a blade-style fuse box. This 1303 Super Beetle is now offered at no reserve with service records, spare parts, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.

The body was stripped, the hood, decklid, left door, and driver’s floor pan were replaced, rust repairs were performed, and the beltline trim was shaved before the car was repainted Toyota Silver Pine Pearl in November 2008. Additional work performed at that time included replacement of the windshield, exterior seals, and running boards. The seller notes evidence that the front clip has been replaced.

Lemmerz 15″ sport steel wheels are mounted with 165-series Nankang N812 tires up front and Jupiter Radial YP-821 rubber out back. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes.

Said to have been refurbished in 2009 with materials from Sewfine Interior Products of Denver, Colorado, the interior features seating surfaces and door panels trimmed in tan vinyl and beige tweed joined by a color-coordinated headliner, carpeting, and seatbelts. The rear seat has been deleted, and additional interior elements include an emergency cut-off, an electric heater, hand-crank windows, and a lockable glove compartment. A custom wiring harness has been fitted and the fuse box was replaced with a blade-style unit. An electric windshield washer kit has been installed but is inoperative.

The four-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a digital speedometer, while a gauge for motor speed and an Elite Power Solutions energy management system screen are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The replacement odometer shows 3,900 miles, and true mileage is unknown.

Power comes from an HPEVS AC-50 8” three-phase motor that was fitted in October 2011 and features a GBS LiFeMnPO4 10.240 kilowatt-hour battery that is controlled by a Curtis 1238 with regenerative braking. The battery was replaced in August 2018.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle reportedly fitted with a high-performance clutch.
